But consumer demand around the occasion doesn’t hold still — the cocktails guests order, the flavors gaining ground, and the settings they choose to celebrate in shift year over year, and the signals aren’t always the ones you’d assume. We pulled the latest national on-premise data to see where that demand is heading this year. This is what stood out.

Tequila and Margaritas define the occasion
Consumers are +29% more likely to mention Margaritas on the Fourth of July, Tequila is the best-selling spirits category in Top Fourth of July Accounts, with average depletions per account +86% above average, and lime is the most common flavor, found on 67% of cocktail menus.

Consumers frequent outdoor, warm-weather venues:
Consumers mention Swimming pools at +297% above normal as well as rooftops (+119%), and patios (+87%), while indoor-leaning contexts like dancing (-8%) are less popular.

Flavors are trending away from expected citrus profiles:
Coffee is the fastest-growing major cocktail flavor at +11% YoY while lime , lemon , and orange have all seen their menu shares decline. The Espresso Martini is the only top cocktail gaining share (+19%) in top Fourth of July accounts, while the Dirty Soda increasingly appeals to consumers both over-indexing (+123%) and trending in consumer mentions
