Ground Signal National Menu Insights Report cover for Q2 2026, with a US map graphic

National Bourbon Month is a good moment to ask a harder question than which bourbon is biggest: which bourbons are actually winning menu placements. These bourbon menu insights cover both brands and cocktails across 47,000+ national cocktail menus featuring Bourbon Whiskey, comparing Q2 2026 against the same period a year prior — showing which brands operators added, which they dropped, and how the serves built around them are changing.

Buffalo Trace has effectively closed the gap on Bulleit and Woodford Reserve

Buffalo Trace grew menu share 49% year over year to 12% , pulling level with Woodford Reserve and within a point of Bulleit. Growth at that rate is notable for a brand of this scale — it was already an established top-five bourbon before the gain, not a challenger climbing off a small base.

Established mid-tier bourbons lost placements over the same period

Four Roses fell 9.7% from the prior year and Jim Beam fell 8.5%. The individual moves are modest, but the direction is consistent across the tier.

The fastest-growing bourbon cocktails are modern serves and riffs, not the classics

The Paper Plane and Maple Old-Fashioned both grew 29% year over year, the two fastest-rising bourbon serves nationally. The Paper Plane now sits at 4.8% menu share and the Maple Old-Fashioned at 2.4% — small absolute footprints, but the clearest signal of where operators are experimenting.
